iOS 13 Compatibility – Which iPad and iPhone Devices are Compatible?

August 13, 2019 by abhilash 4 Comments

iOS 13 Compatibility  : So, iOS 13 is finally around the corner to be released this year. Will your iPad or iPhone be compatible to it? During the WWDC 2018, Apple has noted that they are focusing on performance improvements for its next operating system. It means iOS 13 will support almost all devices that are supported by iOS 12 currently.

If you don’t know about device support, listed here are the iPads, iPhones, and iPod Touch devices to meet the system requirements of iOS 13.

Why do we need to know the devices compatible to iOS 13?

To start with, you should keep in mind that Apple has equally excellent hardware and software staff. So, they are always on the race against time and with one another. The software team often goes ahead and sometimes hardware staff beats them. Technology is moving ahead always and it doesn’t wait for any person or team.

In addition, Apple operates a multi-million dollar company with a sole aim to make profit. If all of the existing Apple devices start supporting all of the OS versions year after year, who will buy latest Apple devices? As discussed earlier, technology is growing constantly. This is the reason iOS 12 has ditched iPhone 5c by not providing any support as it didn’t support 64-bit apps. The latest OS supports 64-bit apps only. So, Apple 5c cannot support 64-bit apps.

iOS 13 Compatible iPhone Devices

iOS 13 will be supportable to all iPhone models which were launched in 2015 or later. Here is the list of supportable iPhone devices –

  • 2019 iPhone Models
  • iPhone Xs
  • iPhone Xs Max
  • iPhone XR
  • iPhone X
  • iPhone 8
  • iPhone 8 Plus
  • iPhone 7
  • iPhone 7 Plus
  • iPhone 6s
  • iPhone 6s Plus
  • iPhone SE

iPadOS Supported iPad Devices

iPadOS will be supported to some iPad models which were launched in 2013 or later. Here’s the complete list of supported devices –

  • 12.9-inch iPad Pro
  • 11-inch iPad Pro
  • 10.5-inch iPad Pro
  • 9.7-inch iPad Pro
  • iPad (6th generation)
  • iPad (5th generation)
  • iPad mini (5th generation)
  • iPad mini 4
  • iPad Air (3rd generation)
  • iPad Air 2

iOS 13 – Supported iPods

Unfortunately, iOS 13 supports only one iPod model. Recently, Apple has moved away from the brand of iPod. So, there is no room to expect any improvements in this product line going ahead.

  • iPod Touch 7th Generation

Support – Full or Limited

Even if your device is listed above, keep in mind that you may not get access to all of the features of iOS 13 after upgrade. Some features have specific requirements related to processing power and hardware capabilities which are, hence, limited to only latest iOS devices.

It is still unclear exactly which features you will not be able to use in older devices. Well, iOS 12 restricted some of the features like ARKit (Augmented Reality) feature only to latest devices like iPhone 6s or latest, as well as TrueDepth camera and Face ID to iPhone X only.

What’s New in iOS for iPhone?

Along with bug fixes and performance upgrades, iOS 13 will bring a lot of cool and handy features. Here are some of the features that will add to your excitement –

Tongue Tracking on Animoji

Next generation Animojis will be even smarter. Stick your tongue out so it will detect your tongue and follow the same. Now you can create Animoji in iOS 13 and it is now called as Memoji. You can easily customize your skin color, look, outfit and hairstyle.

Siri Shortcuts

Apple brings new feature to Siri. These shortcuts will be helpful in day-to-day life, such as ordering coffee, finding keys etc.

iOS 13 has Shortcuts built in. Has multistep shortcut recommendations based on your phone use.

Group Facetime

With the help of Group Facetime, you can add around 32 people on conference video or audio call at the same time. When anyone talks, it raises their window and shrinks when they are idle. check also ios 14 compatibility

iOS 13 beta

Can’t wait for the official launch of final iOS 13 version later this year? Give beta version of iOS 13 a try. Registered Apple developers are already using the initial beta update of iOS 13. At the end of June, you will be able to access a public beta version.

However, remember that iOS 13 is a pre-release OS and it may have bugs. Some of these bugs may even destroy your iPhone or iPad and make your data unusable. So, it is strongly recommended for you to avoid installing any beta software on their main device. Make sure to have robust data backups in case of data corruption and loss.
